Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper by J.L Bryan (Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper #1)

""You don't understand, Mercy," I said. "You're dead, you died--"

A howling shriek hit me right in the brain. The ghost charged me, her misty face distorted and distending as she put on speed, her empty eye sockets and mouth hole stretching to inhumane shapes."

Set in Savannah, Georgia, Ellie Jordan's job is anything but normal. Her job is to catch and remove unwanted ghosts, but also act as a private detective. Delving into the past of the family, house, property, and even items inside the home. Ellie surveys every family that contacts her to see if there is a true haunting. In this story Ellie surveys a family that contacted her to deal with a restless presence in their historical mansion that is undergoing construction. Ellie is joined by her unwanted coworkers- Stacey and Jacob, a psychic. The team manages to get one ghost out of the house, the one that was targeting the young daughter, only to discover there were many many more dangerous ghosts in the mansion.

I found this entire book and the characters to be absolutely lovable and so differently. It was a joy reading this, and honestly it was really spooky. Ellie is a brave, strong headed, independent woman who has a lot to prove and is eager to save those who can't save themselves. All the characters are unique and have their own quirks and I think that is what will male them a great team going forward.

I was on a patient 1:1 where I was able to read and I devoured this book shortly into my 12 hour shift. Shamelessly I admit I read all three books that are bundled in the same 12 hour shift.

Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

This book is perfect for lovers of any of Sarah J Maas’ work, especially the Throne of Glass Series. Following the story of Lou, a Dame Blache, who is running from her previous life and trying to make a way in a world where witches burn. She senses trouble when witches make a move to attack the King in a public setting and she needs to hide. But not before bumping into the Archbishops military force against all types of magical creatures because they are considered unnatural. Where we meet Reid, the Archbishops golden boy and captain of the Chasseurs, who thinks nothing of her running from the scene in the square. Until their paths meet again at a political figures’ house during a robbery and he’s taken aback by her ability to narrowly escape. When they serendipitously bump into each other for a third time, a public scene is made, and the Archbishop forces them (a witch and a witch hunter) into marriage. Having to hide who she is from her husband, the entire world, all while trying

Lullaby by J.L Bryan (Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper #7)

"You want to see if you can train the evil singing nursey ghost to...do what? Babysit evil children?"     Ellie Jordan's life just got a whole lot more complicated; Calvin sells the company, and the new owners are in town calling all the shots...not to mention Michael is in a coma due to the injuries sustained on one of her last investigations. The new client they are to meet is a pregnant woman who has a ghost that appears in the nursey singing an eerie lullaby. As always, the team discovers there are more ghosts in the house and that one hunts children, and they need to stop them before they try to kill again. All while figuring out where the now dormant Anton Clay is hiding.      Once again Bryan just absolutely knocks it out of the park with this new addition. I just want to open this up with saying how much I absolutely hate the new owners PSI, and Kara the Russian woman overseeing everything. she is extremely in touch with the paranormal and has a few tricks up he
