Starting with the story of his own tribe, which is from the iconic Martha’s Vineyard, Lee tackles key questions around Indigenous identity and the stubborn legacy of colonialism.

Lee weaves his own story—and that of his family—with conversations with Indigenous leaders, artists, and scholars from around the world about everything from culture and language to climate change and the politics of belonging. As he unpacks the meaning of Indigenous identity, Lee grants us a new understanding of our nation and what a better community might look like.

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Releases on July 15, 2025

Three women in three different eras encounter danger and witchcraft in this eerie multigenerational horror saga from the New York Times bestselling author of Mexican Gothic.
“Back then, when I was a young woman, there were still witches”: That was how Nana Alba always began the stories she told her great-granddaughter Minerva—stories that have stayed with Minerva all her life. Perhaps that’s why Minerva has become a graduate student focused on the history of horror literature and is researching the life of Beatrice Tremblay, an obscure author of macabre tales.

As Minerva descends ever deeper into Tremblay’s manuscript, she begins to sense that the malign force that stalked Tremblay and the missing girl might still walk the halls of the campus. These disturbing events also echo the stories Nana Alba told about her girlhood in 1900s Mexico, where she had a terrifying encounter with a witch.

Minerva suspects that the same shadow that darkened the lives of her great-grandmother and Beatrice Tremblay is now threatening her own in 1990s Massachusetts. An academic career can be a punishing pursuit, but it might turn outright deadly when witchcraft is involved.

Now she ( slightly reluctantly and just a bit grumpily) helps Aunt Jasmine run an inn in Lancashire, where she deals with her quirky guests' shenanigans, tries to keep the talking fox in check, and longs for the magical future she lost.

Running an inn, reclaiming lost magic, and staying one step ahead of the watchful Guild is a lot for anyone, but Sera is about to discover that she doesn’t have to do it alone... and that the weird, wonderful family she’s made might be the best magic of all.

Miracle Mountain (Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper #20) by J.L Bryan

During the gold rush, prospectors came to Miracle Mountain in northern Georgia, looking for their fortune in the local waterways. Legend tells of a mysterious event, of a girl falling to her death from the local waterfall and miraculously coming back to life the next day. Tourists now come to this legendary location looking for a miracle of their own. Nearby is a rustic historical inn that welcomes visitors looking for their own miracle and a glimpse of the local ghost Freija. Ellie and her team are called in to help the owners get rid of the malevolent spirits that are scaring away business.      I love this entire book; I swear every time it gets scarier as the series goes on! Ellie and Jordan come to the Highwater Inn to help rid of the malevolent ghosts but are told to steer clear of the friendly welcoming ones. The owner Willow, who claims to be a spiritualist, is trying to contact the dead and even goes as far as to welcome them into the inn. Wi...

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

Absolutely, hands down, my favorite book in the series. The entire evolution of the story is incredible. Thank gosh it was broken down into three parts because this bitch wouldn't be able to handle it otherwise.      LOVE the evolution of Nesta beginning to live and love herself, despite the darkness she's caused and witnessed. That she finds her reason for being and fights to retain it and fights to be a better version of herself constantly. Nesta finding her love in music and dancing, is so beautifully  written. The house being sentient being, even capable of complex emotion and understanding, is so beautiful. It gives Nesta the nurturing, respect, and love that her mother never gave her. Which while healing is something she desperately  needs especially because her mother was so absolutely awful to her. The addition of Emerie and Gwyn are the perfect characters to add and further broaden the family in the ACOTAR universe.       ...

The Conner family moved from the city, to create a space for children in need. They're on a deadline and the construction in the camp is stirring up the spirits of the grounds and woods. Between the deaths within the camp, Josh Conner's inability to accept the paranormal, and an old Indigenous legend of the Trailwalker, there is no shortage of possibilities. One thing remains the same though, t hese spirits are mainly targeting the Conner kids. Ellie and the team have to dig into this campground's rich history and determine what or who is threatening the family. Or else they may be forced to give u...
