A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

So if you read the previous post, you’ll know that I’m re-reading the entire ACOTAR series. Here are my thoughts on reading it for the second time:

Having been slightly obsessed with magic and things associated with the magical world, the world building Maas does is possibly one of the easiest ones to follow. Not only the world, but the character list and character building as the book goes on. There are complexities but she doesn't throw extra characters in the story unless they’re necessary or come up again. The emotions that Feyre deals with are wild, the hunger she deals with…not even just physical hunger but the overwhelming need to be wanted and loved. To have purpose yes, but also the want of being taken care of and understood for once. Which makes so much sense that she falls in love with Tamlin. They’re both broken and he shows just enough of himself and his darkness that they need one another and find solace in knowing neither of them are alone.

Speaking of Tamlin, his actions and words portray him to be an alright dude. Which quite frankly blows…but reading it for a second time. During the trials, he didn’t do a damn thing. He had a chance to save her to get her out and he did nothing. It reads more as lust than it ever was love with him. Tamlin was more after ownership and lust at the end of the day. Even when discussing the court and his rulings and what he does, he kept Feyre in the dark about a lot of things. Conveniently leaving out information or making it seem like he was the victim, when there were instances where that isn’t the truth. Lucien, even though he’s misunderstood, hands down one of my faves. Don’t get me wrong he does some shitty things, and he is way too far up The Spring Courts ass, but he loves and cares for Feyre. Which is important and shows his true character through the remainder of the series.

Feyre’s family is overall just a disappointment. The pathetic-ess of how they act, what they did, but also how they treat her after everything. It makes sense that she was so broken. There was almost no love and if there was…it was an undertone of a conversation. There’s a song in the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend about love kernels. How just a little show of attention or sayings has you reading between the lines about how the person loves you. That you take it and stockpile it all up to live off of. That’s what Feyre is having to deal with when it comes to her family. It’s fucked that it was up to her to protect and save everyone…when they were just as capable to help themselves.

Overall, one of my favorite books and series. Always forget how dreamy Tamlin cause Rhys just takes over the show as the series goes on. Favorite part has to be the trials that Amarantha gave Feyre to free everyone and Tamlin. Just shows how absolute badass she is and just scratches the surface of who she will become later on.

Lullaby by J.L Bryan (Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper #7)

"You want to see if you can train the evil singing nursey ghost to...do what? Babysit evil children?"     Ellie Jordan's life just got a whole lot more complicated; Calvin sells the company, and the new owners are in town calling all the shots...not to mention Michael is in a coma due to the injuries sustained on one of her last investigations. The new client they are to meet is a pregnant woman who has a ghost that appears in the nursey singing an eerie lullaby. As always, the team discovers there are more ghosts in the house and that one hunts children, and they need to stop them before they try to kill again. All while figuring out where the now dormant Anton Clay is hiding.      Once again Bryan just absolutely knocks it out of the park with this new addition. I just want to open this up with saying how much I absolutely hate the new owners PSI, and Kara the Russian woman overseeing everything. she is extremely in touch with the paranormal and has a few tricks up he
