A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

On the re-reading journey it was my second time reading ACOMASF which honestly was even better the second time around. Where we left off was now Feyre surviving everything that happened under the mountain and is now reunited and in the Spring Court with Tamlin. Feyre, now High Fae, is dealing with all of her new powers and the possessiveness of Tamlin now that she's safe and home. Basically, Tamlin is now a huge dick and extremely protective and possessive. Her only escape is during her week away with Rhysand, which he actually claims her for the first time on the day of her wedding.

This is probably my favorite book that focuses on Feyre and Rhys in the series. The build up to enemies-friends-lovers (mates) is the perfect amount of time. The fact that there is dedicated passages and moments to Feyre dealing with her PTSD is so real. The nightmares, fears, and sometimes the need for reassurance is so innately realistic that it's nice to see in a book like this. But also how she overcomes this and learns her self worth again even after everything that occurred in the last book. She finds herself again and it's beautiful. I love how loving and wonderful Rhys was the entire series, even when he was being a little shit, it was never meant to truly hurt. His vulnerability is also something that refreshing from ultra toxic masculine characters, and not only when he's being open with Feyre. He's vulnerable and open even to the inner circle, he lets them see all of him. Other favorite bit...Tamlin is left all alone. Like he should be. Tarquin and the summer court is just dreamy too. The description of Starfall and the entire city of Velaris is just so magical in every sense. Definitely in the top 5 of fictional places I'd live in or visit. In the end when Feyre and Rhys have the "mate bond" broken and Feyre goes back to the Spring Court is WILD. What a twist. Especially when it's revealed that its an act and she's going to destroy Tamlin from the inside. Bad bitch energy.

The things that I dislike about this book is Tamlin, of course, he's enemy number one. Lucien hunting down Feyre like she's property and assuming that she would just come willingly. That entire interaction just pissed me off. Another thing with Lucien is that he didn't help even when he saw what was happening, he just let it. He's just as guilty as Tamlin is in that sense. Ianthe being a bitch was a twist and turn, but also not totally surprising. How they had to mess with Tarquin even when he was open and vulnerable with them. It was possibly one of the most upsetting parts of the book that wasn't like murder or attempted murder. Just the betrayal of someone who wanted to be allies. Also love the blood rubies, just so classy. The ending fucking wrecked me. Jurian being re-created from the Cauldron and King Hybern trapping the inner circle. Forcing Nesta and Elain into the Cauldron and turning them to High Fae. All of it was just heartbreaking and makes you just want to rush through the entire ending.
