The Witches Blade (The Five Courts of Okrith #2) by A.K Mulford

The Witches Blade (The Five Crowns of Okrith #2)

A.K Mulford

This is the sequel to The High Mountain Court, which was a necessity to read after the first one. The set up and love interests, the idea of Fated Mates, just all of it was fantastic. Once again, read this in one night. Only took me maybe 6 hours to finish, which is fantastic. Very excited for the third book to come out.

This Book is About:

  • Rua, Remy’s younger sister, is the main focus of this book.

  • Like her sister, she is a red witch and a high fae. Except their upbringings were completely different.

  • While Remy had to hide herself away and have her guardians change..Rua was in the presence of the red witches and they made her life absolute hell.

  • This has to deal with Rua facing her trauma, her darkness in herself that's amplified by the blade she welds, and how she now fits into this new world.

  • She is the link between the fae and the witches, her goal is to unite them all, especially the blue witches.

  • Through this she finds her own strength, friendships, and her fated.

What I Liked:

  • How strong she is and how she showed it is okay to be broken, hurt, and also a good person.

  • Fated Mates again.

  • Her journey of acceptance of those around her and that she is worthy of love in return.

  • Renwicks secret and the twist at the end.

What Wasn’t My Cup of Tea:

  • The forgotten ones were rough. Made the story work, but so absolutely harsh.

  • That being said the torture scenes were graphic, but thank gosh they were short.

    • Also just the imagery of the stronghold the blue witches were held and tortured

  • The hostility towards Remy until the end was a little bit of bullshit. Understandable if she was awkward and doesn't know what to do, but it was just rude at times.

Overall Thoughts:

  • Once again I read this in one sitting. Swear I haven’t slept right since, but it was worth it.

  • Was sooooo good and honestly would recommend it again.

  • I absolutely love Renwick, his story line, how he acts, his love and devotion towards Rua.

  • Also I love the Eagles, especially Bri, and her relationship with Rua and how well they blend with Remy.

  • Shows its okay to be damaged and just because you are you’re still worthy of love, forgiveness, redemption, healing, self love, and friendship.

  • Also love the Blue Witch Baba..she is so precious.
